Our Old Master painting specialist was head of Sotheby’s Old Master Paintings department in Amsterdam from 1997 until 2007. She then set up her own business and now works as a consultant to collectors and public institutions, including the Rijksmuseum and the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen.
Our Old Master Paintings expert has worked in London for various auction houses for the last nine years. He has been instrumental in the reattribution of some important old master paintings, and now works as a freelance art consultant and continues his research in this specialisation.
In 2007 our Old Masters expert joined Sotheby’s, Paris and throughout the following eight years she specialised in paintings, developing a particular interest in the Old Masters. While working towards auctions in Paris, London and New York, she found herself in the privileged position of being able to learn from hugely experienced colleagues, museum curators, passionate collectors and art-historians. Thanks to these surroundings she gained an intimate knowledge of the great masters and regularly contributed to the rediscovery of lost or unattributed works.
