A self-portrait of legendary artist Andy Warhol has been given an antiques valuation of up to £5 million.

The piece - which is set to go on display at Christie's in New York from January 22nd-26th - will go under the hammer in London on February 16th.

In addition, the artwork is six foot high and is one of a number of pieces he created in 1967 - of which five are in major museums, Christie's announced.

But this version has been in the possession of a private collector since 1974, 13 years before the artist tragically died in 1987.

This comes after a Warhol painting - a black and white canvas of a Coca-Cola bottle - was sold for $35.36 million (£22.71 million) last year, beating its antiques valuation of between $20 million and $25 million.

It went under the hammer at Sotheby's in New York on November 9th.
