Those looking for the best value-for-money deal at auction might be interested in the recent sale of one TV prop.
A codpiece belonging to Rowan Atkinson which was used in the Blackadder series has been sold at auction for £850.
The black leather item was sold by Cameo Auctioneers in Midgham, Berkshire, and may represent a great value-for-money deal for the buyer in question.
Worn in the style of an Elizabethan man, Atkinson was seen in the codpiece during the second series of the programme in 1986.
In addition, the event saw a khaki ski suit used by Pierce Brosnan in the James Bond flick The World Is Not Enough sell for £1,700.
What's more, those in attendance witnessed a medieval-themed tunic which adorned Sean Connery in the 1976 film Robin and Marian fetch £2,000.
The news may inspire those with antique paintings or other collectibles to put their items forward for valuation.
Meanwhile, a pink satin gown worn by Marilyn Monroe will go on sale in Los Angeles, where organisers Profiles in History expect it to fetch between $150,000 and $200,000 (£105,000 and £140,000).
