Those keen to get accurate antique valuations might be interested to learn that the Dogs Deserve Better Celebrity Collars for Dollars Auction has seen a number of famous faces donate rare items.
Actress and comedian Betty White put a signed collar up for grabs owned by her dog Panda.
It was sold along with an autographed photo and fetched $650 (£424) when it went under the hammer.
Furthermore, retired television host Bob Barker donated a signed picture which raised more than $540.
A selection of other top US stars did their part for the fundraiser.
The likes of Kim Basinger, Richard Simmons and Randy Owen were among those who gave signed dog collars for the showpiece.
Ashton Kutcher, Jack Nicholson and John Travolta provided signed photos for the ceremony.
Elsewhere, literature lovers might recently have noted that a first deluxe edition of the Lord of the Rings was put up for grabs by Bloomsbury Auctions in London.
