Now could be a good time to investigate the value of antique paintings.
Those looking to value their antique paintings might already be aware that Christie's has announced details of a Spencer family auction. A selection of artworks from Althorp, the ancestral home of the famous dynasty, is set to go under the hammer at events on July 6th and the 8th. In addition, pieces from the Spencer House premises - a London to wnhouse - will be flogged at some point during the summer.
Currently, Althorp is receiving a £10 million restoration makeover, including enhancements made to the roof. In order to help fund the long-term investment into the building, the Trustees of Althorp Estate are offering English and French antique furniture, as well as numerous artworks from the Spencer Collections.
Orlando Rock, director of Christie's Collections Department, stated that the sale "offers international collectors an unprecedented opportunity to acquire works of art from one of the most historic English collections". Meanwhile, those looking for oriental art valuations might have noted that Christie's is planning on making a wide selection of Asian masterpieces up for grabs this summer.
