A flying car built in 1934 is expected to fetch between $35,000 and $55,000.
A car originally constructed in 1934 in the hope that it would fly is being auctioned over the weekend by Red Baron Antiques in Atlanta, US. It was designed and built by Syracuse-based engineer Frank Skrobach - inspired by the ideas of French furniture manufacturer Henri Mignet - and comes with six wings, each seven-foot wide, the New York Times blog Wheels reports.
Advertising director for the company Chrissy Will noted that the lot has been valued at between $35,000 (£23,015) and $55,000, although it is not known whether the contraption can take to the air or not. "I have a huge collection of documentation, patents and explanations about how it works, but nothing states clearly whether or not Mr Skroback actually flew the craft," she remarked.
Meanwhile, a collection of antique furniture and Old Master paintings recently put under the hammer at auction house Christie's fetched a total of £957,600.
