An antique price guide of between £10 million and £15 million has been placed on a George Stubbs painting.
A horse painting by artist George Stubbs has been given an antique price guide of between £10 million and £15 million.
The item - titled Brood Mares and Foal - was created in 1767, but has never before appeared on the market.
It has been in the possession of the Earl of Macclesfield's family, who are now putting the piece up for sale at Sotheby's on December 8th.
Emmeline Hallmark, director and head of British pictures at the auctioneer, said the artist was the greatest horse painter of all time.
She added: "It is an immense pleasure to be offering, in our December sale, this exceptionally fine work by him, which is instantly recognizable as one of his most beautiful and iconic compositions."
This news comes after an oil painting of a Class A4 steam locomotive built in Doncaster in 1937 was given an antique price guide of £100,000.
