A painting created by Pete Doherty from his own blood is set to go under the hammer.

The item - which has an antiques valuation of £25,000 - is being auctioned by a fan named Alistair, who the Babyshambles singer gave it to.

Doherty - a co-frontman of The Libertines, alongside Carl Barat - met Alistair after a gig in Wigan last year.

According to NME magazine, the supporter asked Doherty if he would help him raise some money and the singer replied saying he would give him a blood painting and £20.

The publication noted the money never materialised but the self-portrait canvas, made from Doherty's own claret, did.

What's more, the painting - which is set to be sold by Paul Fraser Collectibles - came with the message: "For Alistair, love Peter."

This comes after Doherty - who was once in a relationship with supermodel Kate Moss - reformed the Libertines last year with Barat.
