Those seeking antique valuations may have noted one recent horse-themed sale.
A stuffed and mounted horse has been bought for $266,500 (£172,800) at an auction in New York.
Trigger, which belonged to the famous singing cowboy Roy Rogers, was sold to a Nebraska cable TV station.
Christie's hosted the sale of items from the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum, which is now closed.
Previously, it was given a pre-auction price estimate of between $100,000 and $200,000.
In 1965, Rogers requested that his horse be preserved by a taxidermist and positioned on its hind legs.
News of the purchase may inspire those looking to sell original and interesting items this year.
Other animal-themed events have recently included the Dogs Deserve Better Celebrity Collars for Dollars Auction in the US, which saw donations from famous faces go under the hammer.
In fact, a photograph signed by actress and comedian Betty White - as well as a dog collar belonging to her pooch Panda - picked up $650 at the showpiece.
